Mazzini G-V-Vesuvius Observatory

On November 22, 2008 we, VG dell'ISSG Mazzini of Naples, we went the Vesuvius Observatory, one of the centers of excellence in science in our region. The Vesuvius Observatory is the oldest volcanological observatory in the world. At its founding, dating back to 1841, the site was situated on the slopes of Vesuvius. The Vesuvius Observatory was inaugurated in 1845 during the VII Congress of Italian Scientists, held in Naples. The first director was the physicist Macedonio Melloni Parma, followed Luigi Palmieri, inventor of the first electromagnetic seismograph (1856) exposed in the first room. Between successive directors remember Giuseppe Mercalli, Giuseppe and Raffaele Matteucci Imbò.

The aim of the visit was to obtain clarification circa la vulcanologia e, nello specifico, conoscere la situazione attuale del Vesuvio.

Abbiamo infine assistito alla proiezione di alcuni video e diapositive riguardanti le eruzioni past, like the one in '44 and last recorded activity of Vesuvius, mainly taken from the light, and perspective of the dynamics of a hypothetical next eruption of Vesuvius.

In conclusion, our opinion is that the first stanza proved to be definitely more interesting, while the rest of the visit was carried out with a rather slow pace, especially during the slide show, which we believe to be interesting and not overly presented in a rather monotonous. We would like also to suggest some ways to make the second point of view of our age, the visit more interesting: we suggest to make, if any, that early screening of the visits leaving the interactive, more interesting, at the end, you might also be more comprehensive explanation of some arguments about what the future eruption of Vesuvius, treated as rather than summary or description of various types of volcanic rocks. However, it is our intention to highlight the positive aspects of this experience. It has proved very constructive comparison with highly qualified staff, also aims to dispel some errors that are usually committed by summarily and sources of information such as news and news in general, which often oversimplify some problems, such as the theme of "plug" formed of Mount Vesuvius.
